Jeff Warner - Come Take a Trip In My Airship

from DAS Volume Three: 2021, Seeing The Light by Various Artists

/

about

This was written by George Evans (1870-1915) and Ren Shields (1868-1913) in 1904, and sold commercially as sheet music: a “Tin Pan Alley” song. It came into the folk revival, however, through the 1960s re-issue of country singer Charlie Poole’s 1928 recording “I Once Loved a Sailor.” Poole only sang the first verse and chorus. In this recording, the second verse is mine.

In this recording, Jeff is on lead vocal, banjo and guitar. Bob Webb is playing concertina; Bruce MacIntyre is singing harmony. The cut is from Jeff's album Jolly Tinker, released in 2005, on my own label Gumstump Records.
